About Mara Stibitz:
Mara's journey through the vibrant tapestry of dance in the United States is a tale of passion and perseverance. Mara's love affair with dance has been rooted since she was little and her first memory of attending a Forró social dates back to 2006. With a foundation built on years of training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and various Brazilian styles including Axé and samba no pé, since childhood, Mara's artistic journey has been rich and diverse. Despite an involuntary hiatus, Mara's love for dancing never waned; it remained her chosen avenue for self-expression and artistic fulfillment. As one of the most active Forró organizers in the continental US, spearheading Forró Chicago and nurturing the community through teaching, Mara's impact transcends the dance floor. A devoted mother, event producer, ELL teacher, and professional development facilitator, when not immersed in the rhythms of Forró, Mara is the multifaceted essence of a true dance enthusiast.
